after the grateful parents of the rescued boy at the boat told them where Jane and her dad lived, he got to america, went with a black car to their home, and knock at the door, the “about to be fainted” Esmeralda came to door, and told Tarzan that jane was up north, and ready to be married, so he rushed in the car toward the Clayton camp……. Jane remembered Tarzan, but the decreasing fortune of her family, her dad’s health and the ardent wooing of Clayton woried her, and she did not expect to see Tarzan again.. at the insistance of her dad, she accepted going to the hunting camp of Clayton, she admired Clayton but it was no love, she went walking to mediate to the deep part of the forest, and she was deep in thoughts when she suddenly sensed approaching smoke nearby, there had been a fire for a week, but seemingly without danger to the camp, but a change of wind had moved the fire, and now the fire was basically between where she was and the cottage, she thought she was lost, than she heard a strange voice calling her(only with d"Arnot did Tarzan learned to speak) , she answered back, a figure swung though the smoke and she felt strong arms around her and than taking her aloft, and making her remember when tarzan took her at the jungle, she wished it was him, but that could not be possible.. “my man!!?” she said, Tarzan smiled than he answered, “yes, is I, Tarzan, came out of the jungle to claim you, the woman who run away from me” than after the got far ahead of the fire, and wind changed so the fire was not rushing toward them anymore.. now she was able to see him more clearly, and yes!!! it was Tarzan!, he led her to his car, while they were going toward the camp, she asked “Tarzan, why did you come back?” and he said “because I love you, and you are mine” than she cried while burying her face on her hands……….

Tarzan was welcomed at the camp, and they talked and asked questions to Tarzan, relieving the time they were in the jungle.. than they talked about the treasure chest.. Tarzan told Jane’s dad, “your treasure was found, sir” than explained what happened to the chest since the party last saw it, than he gave Jane the letter of credit for the treasure, than he asked the professor if when they buried the skeletons, were all 3 of them humans? and the professor told tarzan, that no, that the smallest skelton, the one of a baby, it was actually one of a baby ape, it was no human.. and tarzan quietly thanked him…… than all went to sleep, the next day Jane spent it thinking about Tarzan, knew why he wanted a few moments with her, and that she had to give him an answer, but she was not sure anymore if she loved him or not.. the magic of the jungle was gone, he was not anymore the “jungle-god”, he was a far different person now, and now he had a name! while Clayton was a refined man, of social position, cultured and wealth, the type of person a civilized woman would crave, than Clayton came to her, and asked her “what do you say? would you say yes? I will devote myself to make you happy” what could she say? that night Tarzan got her alone in the living room, and she realized how deep his love was, and Tarzan asked her “don’t you love me?” she was miserably silent for a while, and she finally answered “you would be happier without me, civilization would bore you, soon you would long for freedom” ………Tarzan answered back, “I rather see you happy than be happy myself, you would not be happy with an……….ape” . Jane answered “don’t say that!, you don’t understand, forgive me, for I may never see you again” than Tarzan heard his name, and one of the hands of the camp gave him a telegram, he read it, and saw that it was from d’Arnot, it said that the fingerprints proved that Tarzan was lord Greystoke and congratulated him, so they mystery was solved and his chest heaved with emotion, than while loking at the window, he remembered Africa, and that for him, the African jungle was home. and he remembered his time at the jungle with Jane….. than he heard Jane “I hope the message bears no bad news”, Tarzan turned, than saw that Clayton was coming… the man who had the titles and the estate that actually was Tarzan’s, and who was going to marry the woman that Tarzan loves, just one word from him, and Clayton would lose everything.. including Jane!! but Jane loved Clayton(from what Jane told Tarzan)…….. so Tarzan decided to do the “noble thing” and make sure Jane was happy, so he told Jane “the message means that I must return to Africa”, Clayton said humbly “we owe you our lives” than asked “how did you get to the bally jungle, anyway?” so Tarzan answered “I was born there, my mother was an ape, I never knew who my father was!”………………………. end of the original comic from 1929 and basically the end of book 1 “Tarzan of the apes”……………. as a side note, in the book we can find that Jane lived in Baltimore, Maryland… and that the Clayton camp was in Wisconsin

I’ll repeat myself – google Project Gutenberg and search for “Tarzan”. Free legal downloads (EPUB, Kindle, etc.) of Tarzan Of The Apes, Return Of Tarzan, and more. Even some audio downloads if you would like to have someone read them to you. All these are in the public domain now – even some H. Rider Haggard available.
