The Meaning of Lila by John Forgetta and L.A. Rose for January 05, 2012

Surely in comic strip time we’re still somewhere on the morning on January 1st.

@Shady LadyI believe Annie to be about 10 years old, certainly old enough to be aware. She has been wisened to the ways of the world by a very difficult childhood spent mostly in a pediatric cancer ward. Any child with her own bookie would certainly be aware of who Lila is. She knows that Lila needs her as much as she needs Lila. But she does not judge. She loves her unconditionally.

Lila IS funny most of the time, but the strip addresses more complex issues, which can be more difficult for some. Regardless there are lots of “comics” that are primarily serious. Dick Tracy and Modesty Blaise are two available here. Also, Judge Parker, Mary Worth and Mark Trail. And long ago – Flash Gordon and Prince Valiant.

That’s not very nice… I don’t imagine that Annie thinks of her Mom in those terms….Just out of interest, what would you call Trace then?

Day five of the new year and we’re still wondering why she slept with Dr. Buzzkill.

Osiningalin: I have been reading and commenting on this site for over a year and I have yet to see a new Modesty Blaize. Why is the same strip still here that long?
