“Doof” is my favorite sound effect word in this strip. In the pantheon of funny sound effect words, it’s right up there with “glitch”, which MAD magazine used whenever a character stepped in a pile of dog, er, ah, ‘droppings’.

Francis got “doofed”, haha.

The Sears catalog is not a book, despite their name. The way Sears is going these days, it will soon be a moot issue.

I liked “DIFF!”, th sound Nate’s paper airplane made when it hit his art teacher’s head in a long ago & far away strip. Haw! HAW!!

Yes he is he is my big role model.

A name for the strip? Hmm. Any name I can come up with is a parody of one alreaady used. For example, Nate’s World, View from the Sixth Grade, World of Nate. Big Nate is a unique phrase. I’d keep it.

With all this chatter about Big Nate chapter books, I borrowed “Big Nate strikes again” from the library and quite enjoyed the mixed media presentation. I don’t read juvenile fixtion much since the children grew up (and no grandchildren yet) so I found this book quite unique. It has three points of view: Narrator, cartoonist and Nate’s cartoons. The inside cover art was also very different, containing activities. Well done Lincoln.
