I’ve had kudu, springbok, eland, impala, gemsbok, nyala, hartebeest, wildebeest, blesbok and probably a few others I now forget, including whichever deer is found in Britain & Austria. But I don’t think I have ever had reindeer venison. I think I will put that on my xmas shopping list.
Oh, they usually skipped about in my backyard when I was growing up, like picking them off a tree. Or with a rifle, I forget which. If you ever get a chance, try kudu first. I’ve shot a few myself. With a camera. Pfft, me, with a rifle! I got my game meat from the butchers, same as everyone else.
Yeah, me too. Incidentally, although I live in an urban sprawl here like I did in SA, I actually see more wildlife in my “backyard” than back in SA! My home overlooks a tiny reserve so I sometimes see the odd deer, fox or heron. In SA most hunt-game reserves are actually now helping conservation. Canned lion hunting apart, which just …blech. A work-mate’s brother was a professional game hunter and we’d often get some well hung meat for a braai (bbq) when we were working on some project over a weekend. And biltong. I miss those working weekends. What do we get here? Tasteless flat burgers and sausages. :-| Any time a local bbq has an Aussie or Saffie amongst them, you can be sure of a better bbq/braai/barbie.

Aha, nice; and you’re a Knight of some sort, too.
