Not the first time I hear the financial markets being called “the beast”. On the BBC radio 4 show interview a few days ago I heard John Humphrys question Lord Lamont on why EU leaders should do the bidding of “this beast of a market”.. The answer was, I paraphrase now, "that the markets were a “democratic force”, with many tens of thousands of professional investors, acting on our behalf and our pensions." :| See, that’s why the guy in the ’toon says “nice doggie”.
Well that is what I love about economics; just like physics explains why the planet spins, econ explains how the market flows. Know the fundamentals and you won’t get mauled.
