All paranoia aside, this cartoon is TOO TRUE FOR COOL ! ! ! We have become a less “open society” and have lost not only our “innocence” throughout the 20th century thru wars, civil society conflictual insurrection, and “culture wars”, but from overseas ‘acts of terror’ and our ‘re-action’ to it, culminating in a perpetual “forever war” of maintaining a spirit of alert to perpetual potential terrorists who obliquely have changed us from a nation of trusting, open, friendly people to one of fearful, suspicious people with a complex of resentful, retaliatory attitudes, instead of the past history of helping ones.
