    China’s winning just by providing for our economy. We look stupid to the world fighting each other in Congress rather than working our problems out effectively. Neither political platform can solve our problems without the other, so settle down and let Compromise be King.

    Radish is closer to being right on the number of nukes.I believe we are supposed to reduce down to 5,500 shortly.

    “Defense” spending played a large part in bankrupting both the Soviet Union AND the United States. China’s “huge” spending is roughly 17 % of what the U.S. spends. I guess, just like TVs and other products- it’s just cheaper, especially when they get the money from the U.S. to build their military.

    Those who think China is building up their military for peaceful reasons are truly not paying attention. Ask their neighbors, ROK and Japan.

    Funny, I remember hearing that same thing about Japan in the 80’s. China has grown too much too fast. They are in for a crash in about 5 years. remember where you heard it first…
