Heck. I have to use the 1+the area code+the 7digit number to call the cell phone next door. This is in Michigan. That’s 11 digits to talk to my neighbor.
My hometown was small enough to use 4 digits to get anybody in town, and 7 digits for out of town. And by the way, that’s all the time I have to waste.
That would be 1+the 10-digit number. If you’re only dialing 7 digits you don’t need the 1 unless for some reason your company phone system has set 1 as the number used to reach an outside number.
