@wndrwrthg—I believe the old saying is “little pitchers have big ears”.

Walking, talking tape recorders. My grandson is 22 months and you don’t say anything in front of him you don’t want repeated.

Kids, can’t hear you hollering at them from the next room, but yet can hear the bell on the ice cream truck five blocks away!

Kids hear everything – and tell anyone who will listen.

My parents have always told me everything. It’s best have your kids in the know than exclude them and leave them feeling frustrated and helpless. They’ll know something’s wrong, they just won’t know what.

@kathrynismerry. Perhaps we should update the old saying. “Little pitchers have big ears, and even bigger mouths.” While we should not hide important information which affects their lives from our children, there are some lessons they should not (or actually should) learn from the main people in their lives, especially their parents. If we gossip or say hurtful things about others in front of them, we are showing them that this is acceptable behavior which they should copy from us. This is definitely not the case.

Kids go and repeat everything their parents say. They also tell their parents secerets-like the time our daughter told her very religious Sunday school teacher, that I watched soap operas!

My father used to be my little league umpire. He once threw my mother out of the game!!! For real.
