I came out of a theater in New York (City) around midnight and complemented two workers who were busy shoveling away in the middle of the street. They quite frankly told me they were stealing the sand.

There is freeway construction going on near my house. When I go to bed at midnight I can hear the giant jackhammer that is breaking up the old concrete. It goes on until at least 3:am. I’m about half a mile away, so it’s kind of soothing. I’m glad I don’t live closer though.
