Funny you should mention the Jack Benny gag….I used that today at the office….and I actually have seen a car pull into a station and ask for 8¢ worth of gas…I think it was 32¢ a gallon then….there were about 6 or 7 folks in the car, and they all started going through their pockets….
I finally got rid of my fully-loaded RV – two twenty-gallon gas tanks and it only averaged seven miles to the gallon.It was now cheaper to drive my car and stay in motel rooms.

A dollars worth of gas now-a-days won’t get you out of the service station driveway.
