Hmm. I think it’s a common parental mistake (egotistical delusion?) that their kids are incapable of knowing any more than their parents do. Insecurity, I suppose.
I love this strip, but if this story line doesn’t have a point, or a payoff, or something soon besides “a make-a funna da old eytalian guy who doesn’t know whatsa goin’ on” – I don’t know if I can hang.

And I had a class in Arch. Drafting in HS making A+s and was selected with another one to design a home in FLA for a retiring shop teacher and his wife. We met with them and did a set of construction plans for it. I later became a “back door” engineer- a “designer” – 10 to 20%% lower salary but less responsibility (liability) so with our suit-happy society, it worked out OK and I earned 60K for a couple of decades (good for my SSA-lots of deductions but I should have a safe retirement if the liberals don’t close it down. Such a large % of them work for the government that they don’t rely on those things that I was promised and don’t pay many things that I do.
I was surprised when I went to Italy that many native Italian speakers actually have this sort of accent when they speak English. I always thought it was a bad stereotype, but nope. And it adds a bit of color to the strip. I don’t think it’s intended to make fun of Mr. Gianni at all. I’m interested to see how this works out. Remember, the daughter is only 15 – he’s a good dad trying to protect her, but she feels stifled.
