    If I want medicine patented in 1910, it doesn’t cost much. If I want the medicine that cost $8 million to patent last year, I think I’m going to pay. Don’t want to pay for prescriptions? Cod liver oil is cheap. Got money to drive but not for your drugs, guess I know where your values lie.

    It costs so much because of the initial research – which was either done by the government or on a government grant. Big Pharma is a drug cartel.

    And then there are the little tricks they use to extend the patent protection—such as using a “new formulation” for the pills.
