Above the comic is Today’s Date. That’s cute and all, but we already know what today’s date is. What we need is the date the Li’l Abner comic was published. October 13, 1934 is a lot more meaningful than July 24, 2011. Al Capp included events and political commentary of his day. It helps us to better relate to Li’l Abner if we know the date on which a strip was published.
