It’s a cat thing Duncan. When a cat is afraid, she will puff up her fur like that to appear bigger.

I love how the cat always runs to Duncan when she is scared or just needs comfort.
Send Duncan out. Scottish Terriers were bred to tackle badgers and foxes, so a rat should be nothing to a brave lad like Duncan. I am hoping though that Adelle was mistaken, and that the rat is something harmless.
