Brad’s not a dope for not rushing out to do battle with a long-term abuser. Ultimately, Toni’s got to make the decision and seek out help from Brad and others around her.

Brad is wise to mock TJ because he knows from experience that any other course of action will get him in trouble. Unfortunately he always gives in.

I have a plan, too – be polite and only polite to both Toni and Dirk. Make it clear that you do like Toni, but won’t be messing with someone’s girlfriend. Let Toni be the one to suggest hugs and the like. Let Dirk be the one to threat. Let them both see that the problem is the other one, NOT you. :D The problem is between themselves, and they need to do something about it.
