Cats should stay in the house all the time. Living near the ocean on what is basically a pile of sand, I have other issues with cats as well. They lost their ‘part of nature’ status when they became domesticated.
Yeah? Well, cats don’t crap on my lawn like the neighbor’s dogs do.I have a bird feeder on my front porch strictly for the entertainment of the cats. They also relentlessly track down and destroy any insect that enters the house.
One of the most serious threats against our passerine (song bird) populations, next to habitat destruction. My cat has a bell which has significantly restricted her “success” rate, she’s still fascinated by birds she can no longer catch. BTW, she’s also spayed, and not popping out kittens to make matters worse.
And as runar probably also knows, it isn’t the cats or dogs, but their irresponsible human owners, who shouldn’t have cats, dogs, or kids.
My cat never goes outside, except into the screen room.Still, she brings lizards, baby snakes, and bugs into the house and puts them at my feet.I was chasing a 10 inch snake at 2am last week.i put the snake out the front door, and it slithered away.
Vortex, as usual, you have the facts exactly backwards, and spectacularly so. Cats kill 1000 times more birds than windmills (google it, Discover Magazine is one source). Or is this one of those conservative “This was not intended to be a factual statement” statements?
