    Hobbes knows how to use alliteration: All those ‘sh’ sounds mimic flowing or ruSHing water. Gotcha, Calvin!

    Alliteration is a series of words all starting with the same, or at least similar, sounds. Onomatopoeia is words that sound like the thing they are describing, such as “bang”, “splat”, and “buzzzzzz.” Hobbes is using both.
