Calvin: Hi, Mom! Since you're sick, I'm bringing you breakfast in bed! I prepared eggs, toast and orange juice for you all by myself! Mom: How nice! Calvin: The eggs kind of burned and stuck to the pan but you can probably chip then out with this chisel. Mom: Um... where is the toast and juice? Calvin: Dad said not to tell you about that till you're better.

I doubt Calvin consulted him first. Dad probably only found out after he followed a cloud of black smoke to the toaster, where the flaming toast had been doused with a glass of orange juice. He is now out getting a new toaster.
