Bingo! Our 24/7 “news” media functions very poorly as a source of information that makes us better informed citizens. I’ve lived without TV since 1976 and lately without most newspapers without any ill effects in my level of knowledge of political and other events.

Uh, Tig. Corporate media don’t give a tinker’s damn about being liberal. It’s about titillating and ginning up the emotional content rather than informing. You want liberal media, try watching Democracy Now! instead of CNN.
