I’ve never cared for Tank McNamara cartoons in general but this 9/3 one steps over the line of mediocre to just plain repulsive—on so many levels that I can’t cover them all here.

It doesn’t matter that Millar and Hinds are trying to show us how people who take football too seriously might think. That’s no excuse to show a black-clad, masked terrorist reminiscent of the Munich Olympics tragedy, a terrified couple tied up and kidnapped, and a box of stolen swine flu vaccine to be withheld from Wisconsin residents.

Yet another example of the good ol’ boys of the sports world being insensitive to the real world. Millar and Hinds should be ashamed of themselves.

So, NoTanks, I get that you don’t like Tank McNamara.

What I don’t get is: A) Why you read it, so that you know what today’s strip is, and B) Why you went to the trouble of registering on GoComics TODAY just so you could express your dislike of today’s strip.

When I don’t like a comic strip, I just stop reading it. Problem solved.

    A) It’s the only cartoon that appears in the sports section in my paper, so one can’t help but glance at it while reading the other sports items around it.

    B) Was not a lot of trouble to try to make a point and maybe get a few people to think about it.

Yes, not reading it would solve MY problem, but the greater problem of intolerance and insensitivity would NOT be solved. Voicing my opinion is my little contribution to that end.

I was actually supposed to draw a mid-eastern-looking terrorist. I put him in the black garb to make him look more generic. He’s certainly not supposed to be specific to the Munich attack. I don’t think that gun even existed then. The point of the cartoon was that Packers fans see the worst in Favre. We had to exaggerate. I’m sorry NoTanks was repulsed, but where was the concern for the dog and the cat? NoTanks’ opinions are welcome anytime. Somebody has to keep us in line.

I was too busy wondering what happened to Eastern Wisconsin’s swine flu vaccine to care about the cat and dog.

When I was a little kid, I used to misread the title of this strip as “Thank McNamara,” with McNamara being pronounced as “mick-NAM-uh-ruh.”

    True story.

@Bill Hinds: Yes, I have to say this is way over the top. But then, so are some of the amazing attitudes some people have for or against certain teams and atheletes. Are you absolutely sure you’re exaggerating here?
