They’ve become incoherent shout-downs, not “public” meetings. A few HAVE been rational, but a rarity.

Well, if 2000 people try to get in a hall that can take 300, some are going to be left outside. And harley, from what little I have seen there is no lack of sceptical or even hostile people in the meetings themselves. Chosen few, as if. Bush Town Halls seemed much more screened.

“How dare they get through a back door? They should be thrown in the middle of the People (i.e., our mob of 500 out of three hundred millions) so we can exerce our God-given freedom to lynch them.

    sarcasm off

If anyone yelling like that at an elected US official had a slightly muslim-sounding name, the FBI would be on his heels in no time.

    @ Froggie

Wow, don’t you consider Muslims human? “on its heels”. We can call a snake “its”, or a rat “its”, but we usually call a human “her”.

ANandy “When CITIZENS, who are guaranteed the right to redress their grievances are ignored, cannot voice their opinions to those elected to represent them, frustration mounts.”

Hope you felt the same way when protesters during the Bush years were “allowed” to redress their grievances a mile away from any venue in designated “free speech zones.”

I checked those links. Didn’t see the pictures of the signs. Did see a difference in how they were handled.

“Black-helmeted police in full riot gear fired pepper spray, bean-bag rounds and rubber bullets at hundreds of protesters who filled the streets of Portland on Thursday outside the hotel where Bush attended Republican Sen. Gordon Smith’s re-election campaign fund-raiser.”
