Google indicates the quote is from Einstein. I wander who he was living for when he discovered the interchangeability of matter and energy.

This sentiment is just a platitude used to spread the notion that your life belongs to anyone but yourself. Why expect more from a pacifist German socialist?

Armand Hammer, for those who don’t go back that far, was a socialist American business executive (go figure!) whose pro-Communist beliefs and history of selling goods to the early Soviet government made him the favorite capitalist running dog of the Kremlin for decades and a convenient go-between during the Cold War. Maybe he didn’t say that quote, but the hypocritical old Commie would probably have agreed. (Interesting details in Wikipedia, including his time in Sing-Sing.)

Don’t tell me Armand Hammer is the same Arm and Hammer as on the box of baking soda! I always thought that was a weird name.

And Craftsman is a line of tools. So………. The strip guys, the strip! Laugh, Ha-ha!!

Dr. Hammer was CEO of Occidental Petroleum.

It bothers me that people have a hard time seeing the good in volunteering. That said, I also agree that this message feels a bit ‘agendized’ and loses a bit of its steam because of it.

The only thing that bothers me about this week is the unspoken assumption that we common folks aren’t volunteering so the politicos who never volunteer (unless there’s a photo op!) think they have to tell us to do it.

Please keep political agenda out of the comics.

“you can never pay back to society, you can only pay forward” the great Ohio State University Football coach Woody Hayes who encouraged all of his players to volunteer as much as possible, for if they became huge successes, they could never possibly correctly pay back those who got them there…

Volunteering is in no way political. I would only consider it political if they had them volunteering for ACORN or the NRA…

LoneWerewolf has it right… keep the comments offlist, keep the laughter here. If I come here to find arguments and no smiles, what exactly if the point of coming here? If even a werewolf believes laughter is a better way to start the day than snarls, surely you can, too?
