Roger, you forgot Clinton’s stint in Kosovo. I do not know which party’s presidents went into more wars, but yes, Democratic ones certainly have their share.
This is very true, though Wilson would not be recognizable as a Democrat today. I’d nominate Wilson for being one of the worst presidents the US has ever had. FDR is most certainly the model for modern Democrats – and the very thing most Republicans hate. I’ve heard them (okay seen) on this very site write about how he was the worst thing to happen to America.
However, THIS war was not started by Obama. He’s now responsible for getting us out of it or committing us to stay and defining the goal, but please be fair that it was not he who got us into it in the first place.
BTW, I suspect he’s taking so long to say anything publicly because he’s already decided to commit more troops and is no only trying to find a reasonable rationale. I hope it’s not true, but I fear it is.
As I sat in ‘Nam, observing what was really going on, I hated LBJ. It was NIXON who kept that war going, for a longer period of time, after it was lost, and yet profit was still to be made.
