Methinks getting out of Washington is a good_ thing. Starting an ill-advised war and managing it rather badly didn’t keep Bush from taking more official vacations than any other president in our history. I think Obama can do what he needs to do and have town hall meetings in California or any other state. Bush hid in his office when he wasn’t vacationing and almost never talked to the media or got out and talked to people. I’d much rather my president got out of the bubble.
He made more sense, and told more truths, on Leno, than Bush ever did speaking to the UN. He was an interview, not one of those in a “Jaywalking” segment where Bush would fit in.
Obama works longer and harder than W ever did and he hasn’t taken a vacation yet. He’s allowed some fun time. He can walk and chew gum at the same time.
The cartoon left out the town hall meeting Obama gave in California… unlike the staged fiascos of the Bush years with scripted questions, our president TALKED to the American public!
Also Leno’s ratings went through the roof… nice to have a president folks do wanted to LISTEN TO!
Yes, those 10 minutes he spent on ESPN probably killed the whole rest of the day. Also, the political discussion he had with Jay Leno was more substantive than any Bush press conference.
oldlego, since Obama is more open to discussing the real possibility of a Palestenian state, I think we can expect israelis to not be happy with him. Don’t think I’d put much stock in armchair psychology.
Oldie, check the DSM IV and you’ll see that diagnostic is for BUSH! Obama combines a rationally strong ego with intellectual capacity, an articulate presence, and an ability to tell myth from reality, unlike most of his critics.
My nursing (psychiatric) diagnosis of W is 1. danger to others as evidenced by going into Iraq without a clue of getting out. 2. Delusions related to “knowing in my gut I’m right”. Obama, in contrast, listens to knowledgeble people, and admits when he is in error.
Ah, yet another straw man has been erected. I agree with bcs, dhz, and Dale; I see nothing wrong wit hgetting out of that bubble & maintaining some kind of connection with the rest of the country (what a concept). DOn’t carea bit about the basketball, but it give him a break from dealing with the problems all the time–you all need a little break now and then, don’t you?
