Yup, these radical leftist protestors are not winning over hearts and minds, well, except for the hearts and minds of Hamas and the Iranian government.

The administration of Columbia U gave a 2pm eastern deadline for the junior jihadists to vacate their tent city, they told the administration to pound sand.

I hope they keep this up all summer long, especially during the DNC convention. It’s great entertainment and pits the Democratic party between the far left junior jihadists and the diminishing numbers remaining in the party who are sane.

I am far more cynical and less supportive, because I suspect that the reporting is missing a lot of nuance and adopting whatever talking points get pumped out without digging into who and why. I saw a post yesterday that at ASU, most of those arrested were not students and had no connection to the university. I suspect that’s true elsewhere. This has all the hallmarks of a right-wing false-flagging operation, being pushed and amplified by right-wing forces eager to create a problem for Biden (“Democratic lawlessness/GOP law’n’order” meets “chaos in the Middle East, Biden impotent" meets “genocide Joe!”).

I’m seeing a host of troll/bot-like social media posts pushing exactly that narrative. The violence-mongering operatives are surrounded by well-meaning but unsophisticated “normies,” some students and some not. But at this point I’m not willing to even call them "student protests.”

The explicitly pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah, antisemitic (not just critical of Israel, but “Jews must die!”), etc. rhetoric and flags and banners is deeply troubling. This looks like the Proud Boys wearing kiffeyeh. (And there have been at least a couple identified Proud Boys leaders in the crowds.)

In the ‘60s anti-war movement it was well known that the most disruptive, most violence-promoting “activists" were probably FBI or local PD plants and informers, who would mysteriously disappear when it came time for arrests and booking. I don’t see any signs that these young demonstrators are even thinking about that possibility.

If I were a university dean trying to figure out what to do, I’d offer to set up a meeting to discuss the university’s policies that the protests want changed — and would check IDs at the door so it’s only members of the university community. That would help sort out what’s going on.

Just in 24 hrs: This morning at UCLA, a number of Jewish students were forcibly blocked from attending their classes. At Columbia U, Jewish students are saying they are very disturbed and frightened by the constant chanting of “kill the Jws” coming from the pro-Hamas student protesters on campus. Imagine these were Nazis or skinheads calling out this same hate how different the response would be. Of course this can’t be happening at liberal colleges so it must be faux news. Buckle up.

This is true, hope they remove them and I hope people stop sending kids to this false house of education.

50 kids in tents vs 50 cops in full riot gear. Seems about right. At least the cops didn’t open fire on the kids, well not yet anyway, might need the national guard to make it all seem legal like.

If the U.S. is gonna send war$$ to people who don’t need or deserve it, why don’t we send some to Myanmar?
