Used to be that Sears and KMart let folks stand in their entryway to solicit for the Salvation Army. Then they made them stand outside. Then they forbade them. Then they “restructured” and those buildings are in use by other businesses. All because it WAS private property and they DID have the right to do it.
PS: I’m not suggesting causation despite the sequence of events. Rather, I think the cause was a disconnect between what the BOD and CEO wanted and what potential customers wanted. Quite possibly including Xmas bell ringers.
Corporations no longer allow solicitations because they got sued for discrimination. If they let one group, do it, they must let every group do it. They cannot pick and chouse which nonprofit group they support. If they do, getting permission has a lot of red tape to get through.
There has always been a streak of jealousy & hate for college students, till they need a doctor, lawyer, or scientist looking for a cure for a disease you or a loved one has.
Well, predictably, there has been an escalation in the Palestinian protests. A building has been occupied by at Columbia. Of course, no one saw the chance of this happening. They couldn’t just let the kids have a tent party, they’d get bored soon enough and wander off. Nope.
They people running the Colleges and Universities tell us “We are the smartest people that ever lived.” and yet, they couldn’t handle a small problem and not let it get out of control. Deja Vu, all over again.

Those in power (the rich) hate it when someone makes them a little uncomfortable.
For a perfect example, search Bonus Army and these guys were starving army veterans and…well, read for yourself.

Panel 3 is right on point. Goes well with the “corporations have Constitutional rights” perversion.

This is why citizen united needs to be removed. Also people need to understand the difference between personnel property and private property.

Should I be surprised that, in this replay, the part of Mr Floyd is played by a White man?
