I was (a/be)mused yesterday to hear “liberal leaning” news people saying that SCROTUS’ decision to hear the case in April was both “remarkably quick” and “playing along with his attempts to delay, delay, delay until after the election”
10 months after Pro Publica exposed Justice thomas’s undisclosed gift$/gift$ from billionaires, the SC will now rule on presidential immunity with zero chance the justice will recuse himself despite his trump-cult wife’s shenanigans to help that loser steal the 2020 election.
The GOP abdicated their duty already by failing to convict trump for 1/6. The 1/6 committee did their duty, but unfortunately the investigations and hearings died when the GOP took control of the House.
We cannot rely on businesses and the rich to stand against trump. Many of them are already in his corner, and the rest don’t want to risk losing money or customers by crossing him. Businesses only care about the bottom line — saving democracy doesn’t figure into their balance sheets.
Thus, we have to save America ourselves. We’ve got to vote the GOP out of power up and down the ballot for their sedition/treason against the nation we hold dear. But voting is not enough now. It is the least someone against fascism can do. If you can, do more if possible. Step off the sidelines and act as if your life is in great peril — because it truly may well be. Definitely if you are a woman, POC, immigrant, LGBTQ+ or non-xtian.
