It’s an application of the Golden Rule: Whoever has the gold makes the rules. Or why should I support the cockeyed intelligentsia?

I’d like to think it was about doing the right thing and not the money. The donors reaction was triggered by Gay’s actions, but the problems go far deeper than Gay. A lot more has to change before the problem of left wing indoctrination is addressed.

Most scholars believe the plagiarism charges are “trumped” up including David Canon, the political science professor who some of the passages which Dr Gay is accused of copying. This is a situation where rich elitists used their coin and influence to make Doctor Gay a scapegoat over what has happened at Harvard.

Misspeaking about how to address comments on the Israel/Palestine conflict and 2 papers that required additional citation is hardly left-wing indoctrination. You guys need to calm done and stop rejoicing over the resignation of someone just because they are a black woman.

If Capitalism is evil and Socialism is the answer, why is the caravan not headed to Venezuela? It’s less than half the distance? Liberals, feel free to answer.

I like Rev. Al Sharpton -(Dem -Tax Evasion) has to inject racism into this. Al, she can’t call out her students for calling for the elimination of Jews and has multiple examples of plagiarism. Not everything is racist. Some people fail on their own accord.

Claudine Gay set a lower standard of academic integrity for herself than she did for her own students. In doing so, she lost sight completely of what Harvard is (or was), how it got to be that way, and why it was important to this country.

Let me see if I can help. When you feel compelled to refer to plagiarism as “reduced documentation”, “missing citations that did not amount to misconduct”, and the other weasel words that Harvard has used, and when you hire a hit firm like Clare Locke to target the New York Post for breaking the story instead of addressing your problem, all in the name of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, there is no hope of recovery for you.

For the rest of us, we already understand that DEI actually refers to "Diversity of thought, Equity for academic excellence, and Inclusion of other points of view, even when they depart from your own lockstep, doctrinaire substitute for thinking.

Gay was ostensibly fired because of plagiarism, and Bok appears to endorse that view. Yet I don’t recall Bok criticizing George Santos in anyway for egregious lies about his background which would have gotten him fired instantly for cause at any publicly owned company (lying on your job application is immediate cause for firing).

‘Two down’: Republican lawmakers gloat over Harvard president’s resignation

“TWO DOWN,” House Republican Conference chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) posted to X. “@Harvard knows that this long overdue forced resignation of the antisemitic plagiarist president is just the beginning of what will be the greatest scandal of any college or university in history.”

According to Politico, some other Republican lawmakers are following Stefanik’s lead, with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) saying, “This is the right move. Our university leaders have gone full-on woke and harbor anti-Semitism on campuses. Many should step down.” And Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) called Gay “a disgrace to her profession.”

Gay was one of a number of university leaders who was called to Congress to discuss the issue of antisemitism on campus, and triggered outrage after they failed to deliver a clear answer to Stefanik’s question on whether the schools would tackle calls for Jewish genocide leveled at their faculty and staff.

“When my brief presidency is remembered, I hope it will be seen as a moment of reawakening to the importance of striving to find our common humanity — and of not allowing rancor and vituperation to undermine the vital process of education,” Gay wrote in her resignation announcement. She added, “it has been distressing to have doubt cast on my commitments to confronting hate and to upholding scholarly rigor — two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am — and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus.”
