It is true that power is extremely hard to put down voluntarily. The saving grace, here, may just be that even the very best health care none of the rest of us can afford won’t keep them alive forever. A better grace would be for them to grit their teeth and retire before they die. Difficult though it is for someone who’s had no recent practice in doing what’s right in the face of temptation.

Ted believes that “nothing ever gets done in Washington” is because of two Senators and Biden?

Biden is a do-nothing president? Even Ted does not believe that.

The House is controlled by… wait for it… Kevin McCarthy! And Gym Jordan. And Perjury Taylor Greene.

And it’s their belief that the way “stuff gets done” is to investigate Hunter. Over and over. And over. And over.

Ted evidently does not like admitting Republicans obstructionism, even though it would be in his own interest to do so.

Those of the Republican mindset have been so enamored with the dictator-like persona and governing style of P01335809, that they just assume Democrats assign the same fealty to President Biden. Take a look at the variety and diverse makeup of the Biden Administration. And Gen-Z will help make it even more so after the 2024 election.

Gerontology may be bad, but my personal experience is that some older people remain quite young in spirit and clarity of thinking, yet their bodies may fail them. Others may age the opposite way. Being old is variable: Ruth Gordon was excellent in “Harold and Maude” at the age of 79. Many pro football players have lost mental capabilities well before that age, and most of them die first. (There’s a reason [Vince Lombardi: “Football isn’t a contact sport. It’s a collision sport.”], but we’ll be ding-danged if we’ll give up our love for the game.)

I would prefer a person whose mind gets lost now and then to a person who dedicates him/herself to opposing everything that the other party initiates, regardless of whether that will be of value to their constituents. I wish more voters would think this way.

Regardless, the populace has the legal means to ensure that infirm people and intentionally nutty people do not attain power. Vote. Encourage others to do the same. If we keep throwing the bums back in, we fix nothing.

It’s sad that people in power don’t realize the damage they do to the organization they represent by refusing to step aside. The list is long and includes the Supreme Court.

As much as I’d like to see government with more younger faces in power, many of the younger faces are the ones ruining government right now. At least the older guys remember how government was done to benefit the nation. Many of the younger dudes only vie for power for themselves and care nothing for the nation. So, an age limit in Congress would only bring about younger dictators.

Bad news: They’re too old. Good news: Nothing gets done.

I can’t take credit for the following comment (I heard it somewhere else), but I think it bears repeating:

In today’s working world, people over 60 are considered unemployable due to being behind the technology curve and having low energy… yet look at the ages of our top leadership…

The ‘question’ is answered by the voters, per our constitution. Not the pundits or talking heads, who have obviously missed all that has been accomplished these last 2½ years.

Old people remember the old hatreds.

Great comic today, Ted. All one has to do is to read some of these inane comments above to see how these brain dead morons get elected.

Each one of those people has been elected by their constituents as recently as 5 years ago. You know, that democracy thingy.

There is no reason to think McConnell isn’t capable of performing his role. Being Senate Minority leader doesn’t require one to be in perfect health.

The same goes for Biden, who is as or more accomplished than any first-term president in recent history.

Feinstein, on the other hand, is a problem. The people of California need her to go.

But stop with the ageism and consider each situation on its merits, not the person’s age.

Yeah, Bernie Sanders will be 82 in four days.

Mitch McConnell is 81, Joe Biden is 80. Mick Jagger is 80. Says a lot about sex, drugs and rock and roll.

The question is NOT “are they too old”.

The question is “are they qualified/fit to do their job”.

This same question should be applied to….well, everyone. But let’s just stick to elected public officials now.

Is Marjorie Taylor Greene qualified/fit to do her job? She says she’s going to impeach the president or shut down the government. How is an idiot like this still in office?

How about Elon Musk? He’s destroyed Twitter. The only people left are the one who have made some kind of investment in it, they have an audience too big to leave.

Matt Gaetz, a sexual predator, still in office.

George Santos, the guy is nothing but a shuckster.

And let’s not forget our House Speaker, who has set records for incompetent leadership.

I don’t care if they’re OLD. I care that they’re worthless.

Where’s Donald Trump in this cartoon? Biden is only three years older than Donald and in good mental and physical shape, while Trump is already demented and a massive coronary and stroke just waiting to happen.

Did you see the SOTU? Biden Jedi mind-tricked the entire GOP Congress into promising they wouldn’t end Social Security and Medicare. Of course, they were lying, but now we have their promise on record.Not bad for someone who’s “too long in the tooth for [his job],” eh?

Gee, nobody questioned Reagan’s ability, when he had active dementia while in office his second term.

Feinstein clearly has memory issues that are not going to get better and impact how well she can do her job. Biden has weird speech patterns and enunciation that are largely due to his speech impediment and Mitch might just be recovering from a concussion and may be fine in a month or two. Three cases, all different. Plenty of 80 to 90 year old people that are more mentally competent than some people half their age. Each person ages differently although they all do die eventually.

I find it ironic that Ted Rall complains that “nothing ever gets done in Washington” after the United States has had the most productive Congress and presidency in over 50 years, during the Biden administration’s first two years. This occurred despite nearly 50:50 Democrat (along with Independents) vs. Republican membership in both the House and the Senate.

It seems that instead of complaining, he should be congratulating them.
