Bring him a chill pill instead. Irving you cannot afford a Porsche SUV. And depending on what state (other than the state of confusion) you live in, you can’t afford the insurance either. He is right, however, about his mid-life crisis. He’s being a baby. And that’s an insult to babies.

Hi Susan way later in the day. Soup kitchen day? Morning lightenup not here yet, not that I’m counting the days.

hi mom! How was your blueberry coffee cake? I printed off the recipe. Billy and I will roll up our sleeves and make it for Sunday a.m. Yum!

Mom! here are some tips that my Mom and my Mom 2 taught me:

Hint 1 is to coat your blueberries with sugar. Put ‘em in a strainer, wash them but don’t pat them dry. Coat with sugar (a tablespoon is enough). This makes ‘em sweet and keeps ’em from sinking to the bottom of the cake batter. They are all through the cake instead of at the top (for cakes that you flip). We pick our own blueberries on Mom and Dad’s property. They’re beautiful.

Hint 2 is to always flour and very lightly sugar your cake pan. My Mom taught me that. The sugar crystals keep the batter from bonding too tightly to the pan. That’s a very old trick from French Canadian grandmas.

Hint 3 – My Mom 2 also says to use a a tablespoon or two of sour cream or strained vanilla yogurt to keep the batter moist. It does help that Billy and I are coffee drinkers with coffee cake.

Porshe SUV??? Yeah, right! Like you could really afford a Porshe SUV, Irving! Get real!!!!! You know . . . you’re REALLY starting to make my eyes hurt with all the eye rolling you’ve been making me do lately . . . so STOP it already!!!!!!!!!!

    HI, AARON & DR. BILLY!!!!!

Hope you both had a wonderful 4th of July yesterday! How was your mom’s delicious-looking dessert? Mine didn’t turn out anywhere near as pretty as the picture, I’m afraid! Against my better judgment, I didn’t flour my Bundt pan after oil-spraying it because the instructions didn’t say to so the darn thing stuck a little bit coming out, which tore some of the top off it . . . the blueberries weren’t as sweet as they really needed to be (is there anything much worse than biting into sour blueberries?!?) . . . and I keep forgetting that coffee cakes aren’t as moist as I like my cakes to be (so, given that, I should have made a glaze for the top rather than dusting it with powdered sugar instead). I guess that’s the hazard of trying a new recipe you’ve never made before. This one wasn’t successful for me but I’ve made several cakes in the past that were and since I love to bake so much, I’m never going to stop trying new things! Meanwhile, I’m giving this recipe 2 thumbs down, guys! But if you decide to go ahead and try it anyway, you may have better luck than I did — especially if you make those corrections I mentioned. One more thing: I found my cake was done when I did a toothpick test at 50 minutes. If I had checked it at the minimum 55 they listed, it would have burned so I’d recommend you check yours at around 50 minutes too . . . just in case. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Okay Irving — Porsche SUV is between $50,000 and $135,000. And your first insurance bill will kill you dead, so make Cathy your beneficiary first. After all, she’s put so much of her life into you. Why is anyone’s guess.

    hi mom!

Hello fellow Cathyites. Oooh, rgcviper keeps coming early (and before me). Okay, I’ll say it here instead — I agree with your past few comments about eyerolls and our ability to love doing them, even at great pain to ourselves.

Hiya KFG and evening crew. Time for hockey. Also glad we’re not in DC. 103 around noon. Too many people without power. We’d be among then were we home. Aaron is staying the summer. I’m going back to work after my birthday, though I’ve been kinda sorta working on projects while I’m here. At least Aaron is healing better without all the heat and humidity. LMB is happy and disappears for hours at a time. He’s probably being like Fred Bassett and chasing rabbits.

A Porsche Cayenne is soooo ugly and useless, besides WTF does he need 4WD for, the speed bumps at Mc Donalds? If he’s having a mid life crisis get a Cayman or Boxter, more than he could ever handle, maybe just a Porsche golf shirt would be enough.

Good Evening to everyone, hope your July 4 was fun. I was scared all night of the crazy neighbors setting off fireworks, even though banned because of extreme dry conditions. My lawn is brown straw looking now with some green weeds of course…a consequence of being in Florida for a week. No fires, thank goodness. Still staying close to 100F for a few more days. I think Irving is having an early mid-life crisis…afraid to grow older or at least look older!!!!
