Honestly! How new does your computer need to be when you are just going to check email with it?
I have an elderly grandmotherly type who still uses her current computer for the exact same task that she did in 1996 using the same brand of email checker.
Now her Sons want to replace a (perfectly fine) 6 month old computer with a “BRAND” new fast computer (against my recommendation) so that she can continue to use it for the exact same single task of checking email.
When you are 85 years old, your kids think they know everything… I worry about her having to learn Windows 7. It took us long enough to make her comfortable with XP after only knowing 98 for so long.
The only people that really benefit from the public’s insatiable need (or is it greed?) for the “newest, latest, and greatest” of anything are the ones that are making and selling all those “must-have-or-I’ll-just-die!” items.

Ouch. Run ice cream – you’re next! Too bad your hips and thighs are the only ones who will respond to your “little voice”.

Hey…I’m a lawyer and I resemble that remark. Some of us are honest and caring, you know.

My computer is almost six years old, runs on XP, and is doing fine…. I WON’T switch to Windows 7, so when I buy a new one it will be a MAC.
