And yet, Biden, like all Democratics before him, has actually reduced the deficit itself. Sadly, we have to pay the interest on what is still owed, which is why the silly debt ceiling has to be raised in the meantime. Want to keep paying off the deficit? Keep voting Democratic. Want to raise the deficit again, vote Republican. Granted, the Republicans will have no problem raising the debt ceiling, while raising the actual debt, as Repubs always do.

No matter what is said, what is accomplished, the GOP slams, demeans, investigates, calls a hearing, etc! There is never a plan to help, but obstruct the wheels of the government going forward! Instead of contributing to the welfare of AMERICA, AND A SOLUTION, THEY ADD AND COMPOUND TO THE PROBLEMS!

They’re desperate and will do anything to make Dems look bad! They start conspiracy theories, tell the lies, over and over…feeding their sheep a bunch of bullcrap….Baaaaaaaa Baaaaaa Baaaaad!

Reagan took the deficit from $70 billion to $175 billion. Bush 41 took it to $300 billion. Clinton got it to zero. Bush 43 took it from zero to $1.2 trillion. Obama halved it to $600 billion. Trump got it back to a trillion.

When the Republicans have the White House they run up the debt. Chaney said that " Deficits Don’t Matter". They only become an issue for Republicans when a Democrat is in the White House and the bills need to be paid. I don’t know if it’s a strategy to run them up and then use them as a propaganda tool or if they think that far ahead, but that’s the facts.

Reagan took the deficit from 70 billion to 175 billion.

Bush 41 took it to 300 billion.

    Clinton got it to zero.

Bush 43 took it from 0 to 1.2 trillion.

Obama halved it to 600 billion.

Trump got it back to a trillion.

Biden reduced it $350 billion his first year in office. And the budget office expects to see it drop by another 1 trillion, 500 billion dollars – the largest drop ever. This is despite a $1.9 Trillion pandemic relief package. The Republicans screamed about this at the time, but it is credited with funding a faster recovery than anywhere else in the world, and actually decreasing the debt further.

Please read this article to better understand how to define National debt. https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-national-debt-donald-trump-barack-obama-ee3e613646fe500edf803e57959c776eThe president is not solely responsible. And I encourage you to research who had the majority in Congress-Senate and House during each of the president’s tenure when the debt was incurred.Occupy Democrats can spew all kinds of data in their favor. If you read this article you will see both parties have been responsible for putting our country in its current debt problem. Its time to stop pointing fingers at each other and start being logical in finding solutions.

True that members of both parties have contributed bigly to the national debt. Democrats meekly vote for tax cuts because they don’t like being called tax-and-spend. Republicans gleefully vote for tax cuts because they don’t mind borrow-and-spend, which is much more egregious.

Granted, it’s hard to make people understand that giving them money is bad for the country, but think of it this way: imagine that there was no social security and no Medicare. Imagine that all of the money that would have gone to SS and Medicare would have been kept, without being taxed, by the wage-earner.

Now imagine that those people have become 65 years old. How many of them have saved enough to be able to retire simply and pay for any and almost all of their medical expenses for the rest of their lives?

You’d see a whole lot more seniors asking “Would you like fries with that? (Cough, cough)”, because it’s hard to bring a tray of food out of the kitchen while navigating with a walker.

Cutting taxes while ignoring rising costs is a recipe for economic suicide, and the Republicans’ goal. And yet, they keep getting elected.

Going into default might be the only way Gitmo ever gets closed down. Would be the silver lining to an otherwise unmitigated disaster

It’s true and a statistical fact, I reduced my deficit by $322,000. ( I didn’t by a house this year…… ) I could work at the white house too.

Ted, I want Gitmo’s detention center shut down, too. Bring whoever is left to trial. I get that the idea the US is forced to close Gitmo because of a default tickles you fancy.

The global pain that will ensue from a US default seems to be beyond your comprehension. I find it surreal that it’s a real possibility. This is the economic equivalent of a nuclear exchange & you seem to be quite uninformed about what this will do to the people in developing nations you claim to care about. Maybe, you’re ok sacrificing millions to break US hegemony.
