I know an older woman who used to work for a local supermarket. One of her neighbors would go through her checkout line, and she would skip over scanning some of the items. Then they would divide the loot. When she was caught, the store didn’t press charges, but banned her from the premises. She still shops there of course, since that kind of thing is hard to enforce. She was very defiant about it, and never felt that she was doing something wrong. I worked with a woman who would go to that store’s location frequently and she never went to that line.
