The Republicans have never been the party of conservative values. That’s just the hype they use to keep their base in line. For at least the past two generations, Republicans have depended on the Religious Right types, who make up a huge part of their base, to support them, and they have been very dependable, despite the fact that very few of them have enough money that they were not working against their own best interests. For them, it didn’t have anything to do with economics or social welfare, because they were brainwashed into believing that the Republicans believed in the Family Values agenda. It is amazing to see how many of these people who are, in their own minds at least, a moral shining light actually are able to overlook the fact that they are avidly supporting a person who is blatantly dishonest in his business dealings and has the Family Values credentials of an extremely active tomcat.
Actually, I’m not sure New York State prisons allow their inmates to wear make-up, so the orange jump-suit wouldn’t clash with Donnie John’s natural pallor.
