LOL. Love it, Mr. Rall. Back in the ‘90s, the Navy was exploring building a new generation of guided missle cruisers. Microsoft was bidding for their current operating system to completely control the navigation, firing control, etc. systems of the ship. No less than 5 naval captains went before Congress to state they would resign before piloting ships controlled in this way. They said they wouldn’t be responsible for watching an incoming missle and having the ship’s operating system spontaneously blue screen (which was a big problem with MS at the time) so their ship was destroyed. The idea was sent to Davy Jones’ locker.
I don’t know if you can call it AI but scientists have created a computer program that can successfully predict the three dimensional structure of proteins based on their genetic sequence and that structure is absolutely critical to how proteins work in organic chemistry. This is something that humans can not do and offers the promise of dramatic advances in medical research and drug development. In fact AI is going to revolutionize medicine in the next couple of decades by identifying cancers in medical scans, etc and should benefit human health immensely. Of course like any technology AI could be used for good or bad purposes (i. e. designing bio-weapons, etc) but to imply that all scientists are dumb is not factual in my opinion.

People are technically getting smarter, but unfortunately they are also becoming more ignorant.

The more I look at this, the more hilarious it gets. Guess I’m a sucker for black humor.

We don’t understand the structure of sentience ourselves. How could we possibly design self aware computers?
