When you have politicians like DeSantis and evidently people like @AtomicForce91 who apparently think Black studies at all is a no-no, the controversies will continue.
Maybe it was during the time of BT Washington that there was no education of black folks in children’s literature, but not so in my elementary training. As far back as the third grade we learned about Washington Carver and other black people of merit. True, many black standouts were not mentioned, but so were many of the American Indians, East Asians, Slavs. North Europeans, and other race groups left out of our education. And this afro-centric history was in the south of the US.
