What happens to life expectancy when over a million people die before they normally would have? Go ahead, take your time.

(Geeze. Innumeracy is so EASY to fix: Just think it through!)

Actually life expectency increases due to better medicine

    No, ted is just wrong

Did the simple google search and found 80s the life expectency in US was 70

In 2022 the LE of americans dipped slightly in 2022 but its still 77 which is 7 years over 40 years…

The GOP is certainly happy about the SS thing, because now they won’t have to pay back the EIGHT TRILLION$ they stole from it to pay for Bush/Trump tax cuts…plus the SEVEN TRILLION$ they stole from the Medicaid trust fund….

We are accepting millions of people from countries where prenatal and infant care are rare. Their infant deaths lower the average lifespan when counted in the US statistics.

Life expectancy declining??? Not important since it a measure of life expectancy at birth, so if more people are dying in their 40s (such as from COVID) life expectancy will go down AND SS revenue will go down since those who died at 45 will not be paying into SS for an additional 20 years. Has life expectancy for those who make it to 62 changed or gone up?

The rich getting social security is like LeBron James getting publicly-subsidized shoe lifts.

Maybe it’s because the healthcare system in America is broken.

Maybe it’s because America pays the most for healthcare but has lower positive outcomes.

Maybe it’s because even people with insurance don’t get the care they need because they are not sure they can pay for the deductibles and copayments.

Maybe it’s because Washington legislates to provide for health insurance companies and not its citizens.

Maybe it’s because the GOP trumps up fears of evil socialism to protect big pharma.

It’s very easy to make Social Security work. At the present time, Social Security taxes are only deducted on the first $200,600 of income. If people making more than that paid the same percentage as those below it, it would save the program for eternity. At the time SS began, the income inequality gap wasn’t such an issue. Now, with 1% of the people having as much wealth as the bottom 90%, all that would be necessary for the entire country to work for everyone is to have that 1% pay their fair share.

The life expectancy for a Russian man is currently 60.7 years. Trump’s GOP wants to follow Russia’s example. Since you can’t start collecting SS before the age of 62, copying Russia would help keep the fund healthy.

Our life span took a drop under republican covid policies. Fortunately they mostly wiped out the ‘red wave’.

GOP’s ‘giddiness about a big red wave’ ended up blowing up in their face

According to a report from the New York Times, Republicans have only themselves to blame for the midterm election disaster that saw them take over the House by a far slimmer margin than they expected and actually lost a seat in a Senate that seemed ripe for a similar takeover. At issue, the report notes was an over-reliance on sketchy Republican-leaning polls that fed into a popular narrative among conservatives that a “red wave” was coming which, in turn, led candidates to make critical mistakes in the waning days before voters headed to the polls.
