My first (YMCA) football team was the “Steelers”. That was the season of the “Immaculate Reception”. I remember seeing it getting our X-mas tree that year. Well, I was hooked. ( I had a similar experience regarding the Pirates when they beat the Orioles in game 7 of the World Series and then reading of Clemente’s death on a humanitarian mission at the end of that year) After, my WI teams Pittsburgh teams have been my go to for decades. RIP, Mr. Harris.
It seems like yesterday when my dad and I were watching the game on TV from our home in the East Bay. After Ken Stabler came in the game and put the Raiders back in lead, we thought the Raiders were in the drivers seat with just over one minute left in the game. We were wrong. That play was hard to take for my dad (a Raiders season ticket holder; at that time it was actually possible for a blue-collar worker to afford season tickets) and for my 14-year old self who had been going to games since 1966. But 50 years later the sting is gone amid the more important events of life. RIP Franco. I’m sure you will talk about this game in heaven with Stabler and John Madden.

Isn’t Kelley supposed to be a political cartoonist?
I fail to see any political significance.
