In Florida we have an 85% law where people convicted of felonies have to serve said percentage of their sentence unless granted clemency. Down in Fort Myers some guy sold $850 worth of cocaine, got busted and is now serving 60 ****ing years as a habitual user. Governor DeSatan denied him clemency.

This is just one of hundreds of people serving unjust sentencing practices are up against once they are in the system in Florida. In this case even the former prosecutor who sent the man up the river wants clemency but DeSatan says no! Jerk!

Look, I know the “man” does discriminate against people of color but poor white people who can not afford a good defense attorney get jammed by the unjust criminal justice sytem here in the Sunshine State which is bloated and full of graft where everyone in jail/prison food service, health care, counseling, probabtion, therapy, communications with loved one and privatized jails make huge coin. Its all about the haves and have nots, the 1%ers and the rest of us, the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. Its a broke system that need fising. Tahnks for posting this strip Ted!

The “war on drugs” has always been racially imbalanced since the republican deity Reagan started it. Any attempts to moderate or modify it to be more fair and equitable have been blocked by republicans fighting tooth and nail against it. Logical measures like legalizing pot or fairer sentencing guidelines have never stood a chance of getting past the republican filibuster…but yeah, it’s Biden’s fault.

A major flaw in many humans is the inability to care about people who they don’t see as similar to themselves.

House wrote law – 251 – 180 D (4 vacant) Passed House 392-16, passed Senate 97-2. This was truly bi-partisan after the death of Len Bias. BOTH parties.

Blaming Bush, Reagan, or ONLY Republicans is gaslighting.

Just like Congress passed the 1994 signed by Clinton – bi-partisan, led by Biden, but signed by a Democrat President. Blame both parties in Congress, not the guy that signed it.

it was the whole idea of the (some) DRUG WAR that was wrong. Failed with alcohol and it is failed and failing now. Police state intrusion.

Crack was pretty much confined to Black neighborhoods with Black dealers. Powder cocaine was more apt to be used by White people, thus the disparate coke laws and sentencing. No one wanted to send White college kids to prison for decades.
