In Danny Thomas’ final (short-lived) series, in which he plays a doctor, his ditzy secretary (excellently played by Didi Conn) is telling him about talking to plants, leaving one on his desk as she leaves. The doctor, having a hard day, looks at the plant and says, “Dummy – you could have been in a massage parlor! Here, there’s a lot of pain… lot of pain. Ask the lamp…”
