There are certain fonts – like the one used in this strip – where buster and blister are easy to confuse.

    little playlet:

the actor playing the kid: “I’m B-O-O-O-R-E-D”

tap the mom: “So DO something. Read a book!”

tap the kid: “I read a book a month ago. I’m so B-O-O-O-O-R-E-D!”

Great book by Bill Bryson. Now there’s a man who liked to walk.

Caulfield and Mrs. Olsen are much the same, yet completely different.

Or are they so different, yet so much the same?

She didn’t even walk enough to get a blister, unless she was wearing totally inappropriate footwear

Both are terrific books, and Mrs. Olsen is exactly right. As movies, Wild is quite good; A Walk in the Woods, not so much.

I loved A Walk in the Woods and recommended it to my brother who took it with him when he went on jury duty to read while waiting. Needless to say there were a few stifled snorts from him while reading. It is laugh out loud funny.

Her reading “Wild”, a little bit of disconnect for me.

There’s a lot of friction in this fiction.

Walking in the woods near Dunwich and Arkham can really be an experience to remember.

From the bizarre growths in Cold Spring Glen to the circles of stones crowning certain mountain tops to the invisible forces that rush through the wild forests can make for a peculiar and frightening emotions. Go at your own risk…
