It’s always construction season but it was nice of the oil companies to jack off, I mean jack up the prices again after their massive 1st quarter profits were announced. Did they get all of the federal subsidies already for this year too? Gotta make sure they squeeze every drop out of the nation.

Now about those way over $5 a gallon diesel prices since everything moves by train and/or truck…

And here I thought corporations got treated like people. Don’t we arrest thrives, cheats, liars, and swindlers anymore? Maybe we just need to execute a few corporations to prove that they’re equal to humans. I’d vote for a few I could easily name, how ‘bout the rest of y’all?

That’s ONE way to respond to life’s little gotchas. On the other hand, there ARE better ways. For instance, I’ll be traveling about 150 miles in a week or two, on a road that’s been scheduled to have up to 30-minute stops in several locations while folks try to dig out from under previous years’ wildfires. Or I can choose another road that they’re trying to stabilize enough so they don’t have to utterly rebuild it every couple or three years: Only one (probably) traffic pause, but up to two hours. What I’m going to do: Choose the route with more, shorter pauses, because SOMETIMES, you get lucky, and that’ more likely for shorter pauses. I’ll also keep some stuff in the ice chest, carry a pee-bottle (yes, they OUGHT to have outhouses for traffic stops, but they don’t), and have a book or two. And I’ll turn off the engine if in my estimate, the pause will be longer than a couple of minutes. Restarting doesn’t cost very much if you keep your foot off the gas.

Other than inflation, high gas prices are the cruelest tax of all. No one is more reliant on their cars than low-income families.

Modern day stress: the rush hour, empty gas tank, and full bladder syndrome.
