The attached link is a story about an American family fleeing Ukraine with a newborn (baby was born via a Ukrainian surrogate). I’m definitely not trying to shift the narrative away from Ukrainian families. Undoubtedly, there are countless tragic stories of Ukrainian families; we just don’t have access to them to know their stories.

This image is so poignant. It reflects the pain those mothers and children must be feeling. I/we feel so helpless.

No cartoonist on this website—not even Garry Trudeau—is as passionate about this story as Ms. Guisewite.
She must have kinfolk in the Ukraine, and I wish she would tell of such to her fans.
