According to my understanding, you have 5 days from the beginning of symptoms until it’s too late to take the ($500+) Pfizer therapy. And you should take the test two days apart because they only detect the proteins AFTER the virus has begun producing them. And you need to get a prescription. So on day 1 you wonder. On day 2 you decide to test. Assume it’s negative. On day 3 you wait. On day 4 you take it again. Assume it’s positive. So you immediately call your PCP to get a prescription. So on day 5if everything went smoothly (what are the odds), you can avoid going personally to pick up your pills… and start the process.
Sadly, this is only a fraction of the supply needed. If, say, 50% (175 million) of the US population is to be tested properly, (2 tests separated by 48 hours, per head, per week) 500 million tests would be consumed in about 10 days, or less.
