Think of a freight train that has been stalled for over a year. The engine has begun to move but it will take time for the cars at the tail end to get moving. They can’t move until the rest are moving. It is not a national emergency if the store is out of your favorite brand of corn flakes.

The problem is twofold:
1: We have off-shored far too much manufacturing
2: We have become used to the idea that any place on earth is only a few weeks away by container ship + trucks.
So the chains aren’t on the consumer. Though the consumer is also hurting…
