The greatest things about algorithms is that they are totally hidden and no one is accountable.

If someone figures out that your results are detrimental, you can just claim you will ‘adjust’ them or already have done so. No one can tell what it was that was adjusted or what the results of that adjustment were.

So, for example, if a group or groups are coordinating plans for an insurrection, you can just claim it was the algorithm that allowed it, and no we changed it so anybody doing that in the future will have to use codes and not be so obvious.

It’s even better than having little heads to roll and less risky than their finding stuff out and blabbing to Congress and the media.
