She doesn’t want a dog in the house? Does that mean she doesn’t want Farley? This whole reset of the comic would be a lot easier to take if she put Farley in the strip. We are already not going to have April. We want Farley!

I’m really sure that Farley is coming. The sooner the better! Elly didn’t want a dog the first time around. She made that clear, but I think it was John who said the OK. And Elly fell in love with the “runt”.

David Spears said: “We are already not going to have April. We want Farley!” Do you not understand that Lynn is retelling the SAME STORY with different details? This will be an excellent opportunity for those of us who have loved this FICTICIOUS family for years to add a few more laughs to our lives.

Great to have Dad run around and play ball with the kids, but my husband has always been more like Fred, alas!

Since Lynn Johnston’s husband recently left her for a younger woman, I’m curious to see if she portrays John in a less positive light, this time around.

Reply to JPNBAMA Lynn said this time the strip will be frozen in time, with the kids the same age. She wanted a less complicated storyline this time around. She has said in interviews that April came about because she missed drawing children in the strip because Mike and Elizabeth had gotten older.

Dad can’t take the place of a dog and a dog can’t take the place of Dad. Michael wants both.

Every boy should have a dog, and a lot of us loved Farley as much as any other member of the family.

As to Sydxelia’s comment, I would hope that Lynn would never blame John for her husband’s actions. If she does, she will lose readers.

One of the flashbacks showed that it was John who really wanted a dog.

The strip’s probably not frozen in time. When she said that, it lasted a few weeks, then Grandpa had that other stroke and characters continued aging and celebrating birthdays, and so on. When she reset it, she probably wanted to start the aging over again. Making Michael be a little kid again is what allows for simpler jokes.

First to be fair Elly never ever wanted a dog. She knew that she would be the one to care for it.

Secondly, in the original Elizabeth would be between 1 1/2 and 2 when they got Farley so in theory they still have time.

Three it was finally Mrs. Baird that convinced them to get Farley because he was the runt of the litter.

So if that plays out there is still time for Farley to come into the picture.

PokerFan Frank - Thank you for confirming what I was pretty sure Lynn had said would be happening with the family this second time around.
