The good thing about wildfires — and other natural catastrophes: The (non-human) life generally starts to recover within just a few weeks or months. Part of one of my favorite hikes was badly burned 12 years ago. There are still a lot of dead trees in view, but there are lots of 10 and 11 year old trees coming back, and the understory is healthy. And the critters were already making a (small) living after just a few months.
