Before I retired there was a guy who never responded to anything. Any time I went to ask him for comments on a project, he was sitting around BS’ing about sports. I never saw any evidence that he ever did any work.
Then I heard that he had gotten a big promotion. That told me that some big shot liked BS’ing with him about sports. People who were intent on turning out good work stayed where they were because, hey, who would do all that work if serious workers were promoted?

If they are using post-its or tape, he might stick around. But if those are thumbtacks, then there’s no point in staying.
